Sisters of the Divine Compassion Collaborate with NY
Hospitality Group to Create a Unique Environment at
Mapleton
White Plains, NY, August 13, 2009: The Sisters of the Divine
Compassion and NY Hospitality Group announce the opening
of Mapleton at Good Counsel, a business meeting and social
event facility offering 21st century technology and gourmet
cuisine in a beautiful historic setting, originally built as a
convent in 1903. Mapleton is located at Good Counsel at 52
North Broadway in White Plains.
This synergistic combination of beauty, technology and fine
dining came about as the result of the Sisters of the Divine
Compassion wanting to open their facility to the public and NY
Hospitality Group searching for an additional unique facility for
their catering expertise. Says Sister Susan Merritt, President
of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, “The beautiful green
Good Counsel campus in the midst of White Plains is beloved
to those who know it and a treasure to be discovered for
those who do not. With our traditional hospitality, we welcome
all to our brand new facility." The beautiful building is part of
the Good Counsel Campus which covers about 15 green
acres near the heart of downtown White Plains and includes a
girls’ high school, a coed elementary school, a counseling
center, a spirituality center offering retreats and programs and
a 114-year old stone church.
David Pellon, Director of Catering for NY Hospitality Group,
notes, “Bringing together Caperberry Events fine food with
Mapleton’s classic ambience will create a memorable event for
all.” The groups’ other facilities and businesses include Sam’s
of Gedney Way, the C. V. Rich Mansion and the Great
American BBQ Co.
The newly named Mapleton, in honor of the 1886 building
located on the property, then amidst young maple trees, is
